Guitar Lessons / Toddler headphones / Blooming Fruit Trees / Missing Hamster

Guitar Lessons
Jasmyn & Ethan had their first Guitar lessons today(Friday). Brian Dedera (his kids go to CCS) is giving them weekly lessons for $10 (for both of them). Awesome deal.

Jasmyn got a guitar for Christmas and has been trying to learn how to play it from the internet and occasionally a friend helps her after YW's, but she was struggling, so I thought it would be good to have someone show them the basics & then she will be able to take off from there.

Ethan was a little put out last week when I told him I signed him up for lessons. (He's using the little First Act Discovery guitar Jasmyn got years ago when she was little. Grayson broke 3 strings on it, so had to go get those). He said "why didn't you ask me first if I wanted lessons"? I said "I thought you wanted to learn how to play the guitar". Ethan says "I want to play the ELECTRIC guitar, not THAT guitar!"

Well, I had to explain to him that he had to start with the little cheapy acoustic guitar, then if he really liked it & wanted to pursue it he could get an electric guitar. That seemed to mollify him. I told Brian that Ethan wanted to learn how to play the electric guitar and Ethan seemed happy to find out that Brian also played the electric guitar, but first learned on the acoustic!

The lessons are only 30 minutes, every friday until end of June, then if they need to pick them back up again, they'll start when CCS goes back to school.

Panda Bear Headphones - for Toddlers
Grayson is ecstatic about the new headphones he got in the mail today. They are made for toddlers so they fit well and they have panda bear faces on the ears! Mom & dad are also excited - so we don't have to listen to whatever movie or game his playing on the computer. They have a long cord with volume control on it!

We need to find some longer ones for Ethan (don't think he'd go for the panda bears) for when he is playing games on computer or ps2 or watching cartoons - they drive me crazy and there is no volume shut off thing on the websites of the most annoying ones - of course!

Fruit Trees
ALL of our fruit trees are blooming! The peach tree has beautiful pink blooms, so this year we'll have fuji apples, macintosh apples, pears, peaches, plums, prunes, bing cherries & pie cherries. Not to mention blueberries, strawberries, raspberries & maybe grapes (No blooms yet, I think I may have trimmed them too far back last year & killed them).

We have an abundance of weeds growing vivaciously under the trampoline and these little cute white flower things all over where they are not supposed to be. It has been so nice the past couple of days after the storms that I may plant my garden tomorrow. I made covers out of remay cloth to go over my raised bed gardens. Which reminds me - do you think they make shock collars for cats? I covered the raised beds in black plastic this fall to keep the cats from using them as a cat box and to keep the weeds from growing, but the wind blew a portion of the plastic away and I spent an hour a couple weeks ago locating cat turds and removing them from my vegetable garden box.

Missing Hamster
Last friday night I was cleaning out hamster cages. I had the girls in exercise balls & in one cage and I put the boys in the "play place" (a rectangle plastic tub) while I was working. Well, Meow Mix, the daddy, got out. We couldn't find him in Graysons room, so we assumed he went into our bedroom - which has infinately more places to hide. We put out food in hopes to coax him out into the open during the night. We haven't seen anything yet.

(I started this Friday, but computer shut down before I finished & could post it)

Graysons made his own Lunch - Icecream

I just got out of the shower & asked Grayson what he wanted for lunch. He told me "Ice Creams on the table". He preceded to go to the table & start eating his "Ice Cream Soup" as he called it :)

This leads me to believe that he got it out for his morning snack while I was downstairs working on a project & left it out to, to make his "soup".

Good deals...Late night shopping...

I just got home from grocery shopping at wal-mart (yes its after 1am). I was able to price match items ending on Apr 6th & sale items starting on Apr 7th (today). Got Oranges 3.3lbs for .88 total, Grapefruits for .20 each (big ones), tomato sauce for .25, bananas .38 lb, 10lb bag of potatoes .99 (i missed the .77 sale, darn it!). The best deal of all was Danskin Now (warm system technology long sleeve tee) for a $1.00. The "sale" price at wal-mart is $10.00. Jasmyn needed some UnderArmor for track to keep warm (this should work the same), and at Sports Authority they were $ 40+. So, I got her a few of the $1 ones, they are a size too big of course, but hopefully they will keep her warm.

Grayson is very excited for his b-day, he keeps talking about it. He also LOVES annoyingorange.com. Ethan got him hooked! Ethan is addicted to facebook - more than Jasmyn, he logs on every morning before school & immediately after school - he has to feed his fish on fishville & check petville, etc

Anderson Collision ~ honest car repairmen!

We finally got our bumper & passenger window fixed! Kinda of weird not to see the blue duck tape on the window! So, our window, bumper & labor came to a total of $333.00 instead of $1,092. I bought the window regulator & motor off of Ebay for $45 including shipping (instead of $192), I bought the bumper from Spaulding for $222 instead of $380 and Glen Anderson only charged us $86.00 to install the bumper and the window regulator. He said the motor on our old one was still good, so he gave it back to us.

The only snafu in the whole process was that Spaulding didn't tell me there was damage on the "new" bumper. It's very minor, but to sand it & repaint it, it would cost $150 for Glen to fix (Dodge would charge $400) and Bruce at Spaulding was a jerk & didn't tell me that there was damage on it when I bought it (they shipped it to the autobody shop)& when I asked him to refund me $75 (half the cost to repair to new) he said no.

We are very happy to have found an honest & inexpensive place to have our cars fixed! The sliding door on the van needs the electrical wires hooked back up & we need to replace the air conditioning thingy majigger so we can have air conditioning this summer, but that can wait. Last summer the window was broken & so we had outside air conditioning all summer :) Better yet, I can't lock my kid & keys in the car by accident if the lock doesn't work on one of the doors! I told Glen I'd get that fixed when Grayson could unbuckle his harness on his car seat, until then it was better not too.

When Ethan was little (under 2) I stopped in front of the Daycare to run in & get Jasmyn, I stupidly left the car running and as soon as I shut the door I realized that all the doors all locked (automatically), I had to have the firemen down the street come & open my car door, it was frightening as well as embarrassing! Automatic locks are not my friend!

Easter

We decorated Easter Eggs last night. I think the adults had more fun than the kids! After Ethan & Grayson found their Easter Eggs we had lunch & lounged around the house all day. We watched Gremlins 2 and laughed at the bad effects. Jasmyn thought the movie was absolutely stupid. More pictures are posted on facebook. It takes too long to load on the blog!

Happy Easter!

My deviled eggs turned out - for once!

Hot Cocoa stand in the RAIN!

Ethan, Grayson, Kyler, Joe & Dillon decided to sell hot cocoa (after I talked them out of lemonade) in front of the house in the rain. Dillon is holding a sign at the corner, trying to drum up some business.
